- Eggs: Versatile, convenient and easy to build into your weekly meal prep, eggs are ideal for breakfast or lunch, added to salads, wraps, or enjoyed as a snack.
- Greek yogurt and other dairy products: Foods such as Greek yogurt, cottage cheese and milk can provide protein as well as nutrients including calcium and vitamin B12.

Both plant and animal proteins provide amino acids that your body can use to repair and maintain muscle tissue. If you follow a vegetarian, vegan or predominantly plant-based diet, the bigger picture matters most: eating enough protein overall, choosing a mixture of protein-rich foods and making sure your diet supplies the full range of essential amino acids. Aim for consistency and variety across your overall diet, plus enough energy and nutrients to fuel up ahead of a workout – or when you’re taking on a resistance, cardio, or hybrid session at F45. The main choice usually comes down to animal-derived powders, such as whey, and plant-based options made from ingredients like pea, soy, rice or hemp. Whey protein is generally highly digestible and naturally provides all nine essential amino acids. Plant-based powders can also provide a strong amino acid profile, particularly when made from soy or a blend of plant proteins. When choosing between them, consider more than just the source. Compare:
- The amount of protein per serving
- The amino acid profile
- How well you digest it
- Any allergies or intolerances
- Your dietary preferences
- Taste and texture
- Whether the product has been independently tested for quality
